Biometrics in the Workplace
Do you have a fingerprint scanner your workplace?
This new technology has many useful applications in staff management but fingerprint data is also known as 'Special Category' data under GDPR and special rules apply to the data they collect.
Both Employers and Employees need to be aware of the data protection protocols surrounding their use, how the data is managed, where it is stored and who has the right and the ability to access it.

Consumers Learning to Ask Questions about Compliance.
The new data protection rules have created a number of extra rights for consumers.
Consequently, consumers have started to ask questions before they buy products and services to ensure they are in safe hands with the commercial suppliers they are spending their hard earned money with.
The Mission of Transition Law S.H.I.E.L.D is to raise awareness with both business owners and consumers regarding the data protection rules.
Ultimately, we believe, this will lead to a greater understanding in the business community and better protection for consumers as there will be more compliant businesses to protect them.

S.H.I.E.L.D. AMBASSADORS
S.H.I.E.L.D. AMBASSADORS
Our S.H.I.E.L.D. Ambassadors are people who work in their local areas promoting the benefits of S.H.I.E.L.D. Membership to Business owners.
Ambassadors work with and build on the large network of contacts and supporters within the existing support network for S.H.I.E.L.D. These contacts include Local and District Councils, Council Growth Hubs, Chambers of Commerce, Business Improvement Districts (BIDs) Business Innovation Centres (BICs) and many other Business Networking organisations.
NB: S.H.I.E.L.D. Ambassadors do valuable education and information work with business owners, GDPR Compliance is compulsory for all businesses and the penalties for non compliance are extremely severe, they include prosecution, large fines, Director Disqualification and adverse Publicity on the Regulators website.
We have supplied an approved Online 'Introduction to GDPR Course' for the Open College Network, which promotes staff training and a greater understanding of Data Protection generally. The Course also generates interest in the S.H.I.E.L.D. programme nationally, through interaction with our Ambassadors.
Ambassadors organise Workshops and speak to new and existing clients at various events regarding Data Protection, the latest news from the Regulator and Membership of the S.H.I.E.L.D. programme.
Ambassadors help members to improve their own business relationships by recommending and connecting S.H.I.E.L.D. Holders to work with each other by sourcing compliant businesses across the network.
It is the Ambassador's primary role to ensure all the businesses in their area become aware of their responsibility to be compliant under the GDPR and other Data Protection Legislation.
S.H.I.E.L.D. Ambassadors are chosen because of their experience talking with people at Business owner and Board level, they are confident communicators, who are at ease with explaining complicated subjects in straightforward terms.
Our existing Ambassadors have been drawn from many previous walks of life. They all have something in common, which is a desire to Mentor and advise business people, giving excellent customer service and ensuring their clients benefit from greater knowledge and support about Data Protection.
